About Us
A Unique Boutique
We are a dollhouse miniatures store that joined the online retail world in 2014. Here on our website, we have curated a special collection of unique and hard-to-find dollhouse miniatures, room box kits, dollhouses, craft building supplies, and other 1:12 and 1:24 scale miniatures, commonly referred to as one inch and half inch scale.
We offer a selection of hand-picked, hand-made and high-quality products that we Marianne and Ali, have fallen in love with or created ourselves. We have been in the miniatures business for over 17 years and love every minute of sharing our passion with our customers and friends.
We add new products to our store frequently, so check back often for new products, special deals and items you won't be able to find anywhere else!
In addition to providing unique miniatures to our customers online, we also attend several dollhouse miniatures shows throughout the year. You can receive updates for that information by following us on social media, or by checking out our Upcoming Shows!
How We Work
We hand-pick and in many cases design ourselves the pieces you see on our website. It is our mission to ensure that the products our customers receive are of the best quality and that what you see when you place an order is what you will receive at your door. We take high-res photographs of each item to ensure that you can see the quality you are buying. We use a clear 6" ruler and a quarter or penny (USD) to show scale when photographing, and give you exact dimensions on some bigger pieces. We know how hard it can be to envision a piece inside your mini home from just a picture, so we strive to make the shopping experience on our site an easy and hassle-free experience!
We have worked to ensure that pricing, shipping charges, and the ordering process are as fair, easy, and concise as possible. If you have any questions on sizing, pricing, ordering, or just have a question on your mind, please feel free to contact us using this form. We will respond quickly, usually within 48 hours!
Small Beginnings
Dollhouse Alley started with the purchase of an unfinished Victorian dollhouse, the Lady Anna by House That Jack Built, for Ali’s ninth birthday. Unsure of how to complete the house, we looked through books about the Painted Ladies of San Francisco and Victorian-era houses, which provided inspiration for paint colors and furniture style.
The real fun began shortly after we started working on the house, and Ali decided that she wanted to see it electrified. After doing some reading, I saw that it wasn’t too difficult, and we both found it exciting to see this miniature project come to life in a new way. After Ali’s house was finished, I began work on my own house (a Real Good Toys Simplicity kit), and found it impossible to stop there.
After a few years of enjoying our dollhouses at home, I decided I wanted to do something that could bring our shared love of miniatures to others. After a lot of planning and building inventory, a name was decided upon, "Dollhouse Alley" - named for Ali and the "alleys" of houses we envisioned stocking, and then the store was born.
Since 2004 the shop has grown, and we have worked with customers from all over Long Island and up and down the East Coast. In our ten years as a local business, we moved several times around Wantagh, but have always kept the same integrity through hard work and dedicated customer service, and providing expert tips formed through our years of experience and passion for miniature dollhouse design.
After a full decade as a brick-and-mortar store and a move to North Carolina, we decided it was time to informally "close" the store - at least, the physical location - and re-open as an online destination where our customers can find us 24 hours a day, with the same dedication and passion, but much more easily accessible. We are excited to be able to offer unique and specialized products, and we can't wait to work with you!
